As part of the Lu4 concept, we focused on refining the early-game economy. The new economic model features a reworked and more accessible equipment progression system. Now players don’t need to gather millions for a new sword or sacrifice weapons for crystals — everything is built on step-by-step improvements:

  • Improving armor, weapons, and jewelry::
    • You can start with the most basic sword for 900 Adena and step by step upgrade it to a top NG weapon by exchanging it commission-free at merchants in towns. After obtaining the first profession, each character receives image.png a coupon that allows exchanging one top NG weapon for a Low-D one, which can then also be upgraded step by step as the budget replenishes;
    • We strive to deliver the most authentic gaming experience within the testing of Lu4. At the current stage, the game lacks the usual MasterWork shadow and common weapons, rewards for Missions and Achievements, the Ivory Coin shop, starter packs, and other mechanics designed to meet the need for starting equipment. However, we believe the standard game situation where a player with starting equipment has to painfully grind Adena for better D-grade weapons is unacceptable. We broke this path into several intermediate stages, resulting in a more smooth and fair character equipment progression for all players:
      • Many players have encountered a similar system before. It works similarly to the pet equipment upgrade system (wolf fangs, etc.);
      • This mechanic applies not only to weapons but also to armor and jewelry, allowing you to develop evenly as you explore the updated game world:
        • Pay attention!
          • Many armors that were previously irrelevant have received updates and are now part of new sets. These changes will be described in more detail later.
      • An additional advantage of this system is the expansion of the economy. Items that previously were sold to shops or only used as crystals will become part of the player market economy:
        • The sell price of all items to shops has been reduced from 50% to 25%;
        • This measure, combined with the item upgrade system, makes trading any game items profitable for both sellers and buyers.
      • Equipment can be upgraded at any merchant of the corresponding item type (weapons, armor, jewelry) in starting villages (for NG) and towns (for D-grade);
      • Important!
        • The step-by-step upgrade system works only for NG and D-grade items. C and B-grade equipment can only be obtained through crafting or as drops from mobs and raid bosses.

    • Armor Upgrading:
      • We recommend you study the bonuses of the new NG and D-grade sets, which you will find below;
      • Armor upgrades work similarly to weapons, but you cannot exchange NG armor for D-grade armor;
      • Pay attention!
        • One of the pieces required to form D-grade sets is not sold in shops. For any set, you can buy/exchange the upper and lower armor. Depending on the set type, the required additional piece (gloves, boots, or helmet) is not available in shops and can only be obtained via crafting/market purchase or as loot from monsters/bosses.

  • All D-grade weapons, starting from the 3rd upgrade stage (all D-grade weapons have 5 ranks), can be augmented with a SA. A detailed description of bonuses and the insertion cost can be found later in this section;
  • Armor has also received significant improvements. In addition to standard sets, "mini-sets" have been added to the game starting from NG, consisting of two parts with their own unique bonuses. These sets do not have traditional enchantment bonuses but allow for more meaningful and consistent equipment progression. All armor can also be gradually upgraded at NPC merchants within the same grade;
  • In addition to the familiar D-grade sets, we’ve added new full sets with their own bonuses, improving the diversity of character development. D-grade sets are available at NPC shops, with the exception of one part (boots, helmet, or gloves), which can be either dropped or crafted;
  • We have reworked the armor enchantment system. Now the OE (Over-Enchant) bonus of a set becomes active starting from +3 enchantment. More details about the bonuses are provided later in this section;
  • The gradual equipment improvement system also applies to jewelry. Now you can steadily increase your magical defense without needing to save up Adena for top-tier jewelry right away;
  • Pay attention!
    • During testing, catacombs and all related mechanics will be unavailable. This means that the weapon exchange system at the Blacksmith of Mammon for Ancient Adena will also be unavailable.
